The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State has described a statement ascribed to Comrade Adams Oshiomhole governorship candidate of the Action Congress (AC) in last month's general election, who stated that he had been approached and begged to abandon his judicial redress over the April 14 election, as a misrepresentation of facts by a political neophyte.
Publicity Secretary of the party in the state, Comrade Francis Iyasere, while lamenting the statement by Oshiomhole, said: 'Nobody begged Adams Oshiomhole to stop his judicial redress. The problem with him is that he thinks too big about himself. He takes his ambition to be governor too personal and now he is misrepresenting facts because he is still a political neophyte.
'If a party that has won election now decides to say, please come let us join hands together to run the government, to build the state and serve the people, what is wrong with that? In politics, such an extension of fellowship is necessary so that his followers will not lose out completely, so that they will not lose hope in the entire political game.
'We may have invited him to join us not necessarily to take up appointment but to choose from his flock of followers. That is how politics is played. In PDP, we do not believe in winner-takes-all. Oshiomhole's recent comments show he is not yet a politician."
Adams Oshiomhole had earlier in the week filed a petition, at the election tribunal, to contest the gubernatorial result in which the PDP candidate, Senator Osarhiemen Osunbor was declared winner.
Iyasere yesterday also disclosed that the PDP and the governor-elect were not in any way distracted by the judicial redress of Oshiomhole and the AC, adding 'we are on top of the situation. We are moving on, strategizing how to make Edo State the best place to live in. That is our priority for now. And if Oshiomhole thinks he can underrate our legal team and evidences against him, he will soon be disappointed."
