The Federal Capital Territory(FCT) Department of Development Control Tuesday embarked on the demolition of a multi-million naira house belonging to People's Democratic Party (PDP) National Chairman Ahmadu Ali.
The one-storey building of four flats is located at No 6 Abubakar Koko Crescent off Sule Maitama Street, Asokoro.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that officials of the department and armed policemen arrived at the house early Tuesday morning with their equipment.

The Director of the department, Alhaji Isa Shuibu, said that the house was built on a water pipeline that linked Lower Usuma Dam with Abuja main water tank. 'We gave the owner and residents notice to move out, but they failed to comply with the directive," he said.

Shuibu said that the department was not considering the personality of the owner, but was more interested in the welfare of the residents of the city. 'So we are demolishing the house along with two houses at the main waterline at Asokoro," he said.

On the head office of Bulet Construction, a firm whose office was demolished on Tuesday, Shuibu said the exercise was carried out in accordance with an agreement signed with the company some years ago. 'The place was given to Bulet to serve as a temporary office, the agreement expired long ago," he said.
He said the FCT Minister Mallam Nasir el-Rufai had been briefed on the exercise and that he commended the company for its co-operation.
