Abia State Governor and presidential candidate of the Peoples Progressive Alliance (PPA) in the just concluded general elections, Dr Orji Uzor Kalu, has asked his supporters and friends to hang on with him as he has more political job to do after he hands over power in May 29.
Speaking with aviation correspondents in Lagos Wednesday, Kalu said part of his plans in the next four years would be to build and develop his party and make it strong to win more states in future elections. The governor, who was accompanied by former Anambra State Governor, Dr Chris Ngige, said that he would be into politics full time and not business as speculated by most people.
"I might not even be going into private business. I will go into party business. I will be fully involved in building a new Nigeria where the rule of law is respected," Kalu said.
He further revealed that plans are afoot by the party to go to the electoral tribunal to challenge the result that declared Governor Musa Ya'adua as the winner of the presidential polls.
According to him, once the judiciary is ready for that, the party would go to the tribunal and seek justice. "PPA say they are going to tribunal to challenge the result of Ya'Adua. So PPA as a party are going, so if they are going, I am going, but there are consultations going on," he said.
On the fate of the governor- elect of Abia State, Dr Theophilus Orji, who is in the net of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commision (EFCC), he said that was a job for the courts to decide, stating that it was not his job to comment on the issue.
"That is the role of the Federal High Court, that is the role of the Court of Apeal, and that is the role of the Supreme Court. It is not my job and I am not going to comment on it. I am not like other leaders, I have respect for the rule of law and I think that the rule of law should have resect for me."
Governor Kalu also said that he felt betrayed about the comment of his running mate who endorsed the result of the election, but stated that the issue is not of serious concern to him.
