Interim govt値l trigger bloody revolution, says ex-NBA boss

Former President, Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Barrister Thompson Okpoko, has warned that there could be mass revolution if the constitution is twisted in order to have an Interim Government in place.

Former President, Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Barrister Thompson Okpoko, has warned that there could be mass revolution if the constitution is twisted in order to have an Interim Government in place.

Okpoko, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) gave the warning on Tuesday in Warri, Delta State in an exclusive interview with Daily Sun, and wondered what must have prompted the agitators to come up with the idea of an issue that is not provided for in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
的nterim Government is not in the constitution and I do not know how they can defend an issue the constitution does not provide for because I know too well that it will be illegal to actualize since it is not enshrined in the constitution, which is also our Bible, said the Warri based legal luminary.

According to him, unless the whole country totally reject the election, saying we will not have any government in place now because of that let痴 over-throw the constitution and make way for an Interim Government.

The erstwhile NBA boss, however, maintained that any attempt to overthrow the constitution will spark-off a lot of crisis which may likely result to mass revolution of the people.

On the growing insecurity across the nation, the Okpe-Urhobo High Chief lamented that the canker-worm is doing the country a lot of harm than good, regretting that foreigners are now scared stiff of investing in Nigeria.

典his is insecurity of the highest order which is not good for our country. People are afraid to go out as before and government should face it squarely in order to put an end to this worrisome development now tearing the corporate image of the country apart, said the legal giant, stressing that everybody should be concerned with the issue.

Government should face the challenges without fear or favour. This is not just for the militants, as insecurity is fast becoming big problem, even as the perpetrators are also affected, Chief Okpoko further said, insisting that the country would gain more if the people are living peacefully devoid of violence and pockets of crisis.
