The Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA) in Abia State has rejected the result of the Abia Central senatorial district which was purportedly won by the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Nkechi Nwobu.

According to the party, its candidate, Senator Chris Adighije actually won the contest, revealing that Defence Minister, Thomas Aguiyi-Ironsi, had snatched the results of the election and tore the sheets to pieces when he learnt that PDP lost.

PPA was declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to have won one of the three senatorial zones in the state, while PDP allegedly won two.

Senator Uche Chukwumerije of the PPA was declared winner of the Abia North, while former deputy governor in the state, Enyinnaya Abaribe won the Abia South senatorial seat on PDP platform.
Both the PPA and PDP equally shared the House of Representatives seats for the state. Each of the parties won two of the four constituencies.

Nnanna Uzor Kalu of the PPA emerged victorious in Aba Central, while his counterpart, Ekeme Stanley, won in Ukwa East Federal Constituency.
PDP candidates, Chineye Ike and Eziuche Ubani won in Isingba North and Otingba Federal constituencies respectively.
