With less than 24 hours to his stepping aside as the Senate President, Senator Adolphus Wabara is billed to be a guest of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) today.
Sources at the Commission's headquarters told Daily Sun that the embattled Senate President was billed to appear before it last Friday, but for the inability of one of the Senators at the center of the scam, Senator Chris Adighije to honour the invitation extended to him.
Daily Sun further gathered that ICPC is not relenting on the determination to quiz the senators involved in the N55 million bribery because it is the only body charged with statutory function to prosecute the culprits involved in the scam.
Sources at ICPC, however, further said the body would carry out its own full scale investigations before prosecuting the case.
It would be recalled that following President Olusegun Obasanjo's nationwide broadcast on the N55 million bribery scandal, the embattled Senate President has been making frantic efforts to ensure that he escapes prosecution.
But as at press time, it appears his efforts to be let off the hook may not yield any positive result.
