Death has snatched a man in Imo State, who had a passion for climbing trees. Many times, 57-year-old Eugene Ogandu had been warned to be careful when climbing trees with his old rope that needed replacing.
But he trusted the old rope like an old friend and one early morning he left home with the rope unannounced. Members of his family at Umuneke-Anara in Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State waited all day for his return before they raised a search party that eventually found Ogandu's body at the foot of a palm tree, which they believed he had climbed.
His widow told Daily Sun: 'I know that climbing palm trees was his hobby. We've warned him about climbing, that age was not on his side. He agreed, but now look at it".
Mrs. Ogandu said she didn't even know when her husband left home, adding that it was unlike him as he usually informed her anytime he wanted to leave home.
'We found the body around 6pm", Mrs. Ogandu said.' It appeared he had struggled to come out but couldn't, as nobody was there to help him, so he died. He has made me a widow with four children to cater for".
