Also, weekend and extra mural programmes are run to cater for the academic needs of workers and those who cannot enroll in the regular due to their job constraints.

In his address at the occasion, the Rector of the institution Engineer Onyekwere I. Nwankwo congratulated the students for scaling through the hurdles of JAMB selection and other rigorous admission formalities, where others failed. He informed them that the school is known for its high standards in academics and morals. Facts which employers of labour have amply attested to, as products of the institution have been in high demand.

On the giant strides made by the institution since the inception of his administration, the Rector said that re-accreditation and accreditation of programmes have been done in National and Higher National Diplomas in Town and Regional Planning (TR), Estate Management (EM), Building Technology (BT), Architecture (AR), Electrical Electronics (EE), Library Science (LS), and all programmes in the school of Business and Management Technology.

The Rector also disclosed that new programmes have been added to the existing ones, such as National Diploma in Co-operative Studies, Public Administration, Mathematics and Statistics and Computer Science and Higher National Diploma in Computer Science, Mathematics and Statistics and Food Technology.

The American Embassy in Nigeria, as gathered, has linked the institution to the internet. In a couple of months from now, students will be assessing their results through the institution's website, and the modern computer centre will be ready for use very soon.
