Ateke Tom, leader of the Niger Delta Vigilante was last week involved in an accident.
Ateke had gone to the prison yard, from what we have gathered, to pay Soboma George a visit.
Although details of what may have transpired between Ateke and Soboma are not known, there were signs that it was a solidarity visit.
Ateke may have assured Soboma of his unflinching support, assuring him that he and his associates were working round the clock to help his case.
On his way out of the prison, Ateke met with misfortune.
The vehicle in which he was riding got enmeshed in an accident.
Sources say the Vigilante leader was not badly hurt, but his car took quite a bashing.
What could have led to the accident still remains a mystery. What is however, instructive is that the said accident occurred on a day that Soboma's boys got a shock attack.
Could it be that Soboma's men had attempted a plot to knock the Godfather out as he made to leave the precincts of the prison area.
Whatever, it is, Ateke is safe and his aides say he is equally unruffled..
Reports reveal Ateke is at Okrika, his stronghold and many who have sought to take him out have found Okrika impenetrable..
The Telegraph at the weekend could not get Ateke to say any thing on the issue. But he confirmed there had been an accident.
At the moment, Ateke and Soboma continue to present a front of all being well.
By the signs from the boys point in a different direction, with tension building by the day.
