Plateau State Secretariat of the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) was recently thrown into confusion and grief over the mysterious death of a youth corp member who allegedly died while he visited a fellow female corper.

Sunday Tribune reliably gathered that the Youth Corp member identified as Fasanya Olusoji serving with Jos South Local Government secretariat, on February 17th left his place of primary assignment to visit a female corper at the Solomon Lar Amusement Park at about 8:pm.

A source close to the Amusement park told Sunday Tribune that the deceased arrived the park where the female corp member was living at about 9. pm and decided to spend the night there when it was getting late.

It was learnt that the young man was hale and hearty when he and the lady bade other corps members residing at the Amusement park good night and retired to the lady's room. The corp member was said to have developed an undisclosed illness in the middle of the night and died while being helped to nearby clinic.

Another account of his death has it that the young man got drowned at a pond at about 6:AM on the day of the incident while trying to refresh in preparation to before returning to his place of assignment in Jos South Local Government.

It was futher gathered that as at the time his body was found close to the pond, the young man was foaming and finally gave up the ghost on the way to Jos University Teaching Hospital.

But the observation of those who got wind of the incident was that the pond where his body was found was not a swimming pool as alleged and also that no right thinking person would choose to swim in the pond because of the unhygenic nature of the water.

Since the unfortunate incident occurred, both the police and the state secretariat of the NYSC have been making spirited efforts to unravel the cause of the corp members death.

When Sunday Tribune contacted the state Police Command, the Police Public Relation officer, DSP. Dominic Ioumbe confirmed the unfortunate incident saying that it was a case of a sudden and unnatural death which the police is still investigating.

The PPRO stated that the female corp member was the one who informed the police of the mysterious death adding that the lady also confirmed that Olusoji spent the night with her.

He added that the police is presently making concerted efforts to ascertain the cause of the unfortunate death adding that the remains of the corper has been deposited at the mortuary of the Jos University Teaching Hospital.

Said he:" It is a complicated issue but I am assuring you that we shall get to the root of the matter, postmortem will be carried out. It is at the end of the investigation that we would be able to tell what led to the death of the young man"

Attempt to speak with the state Director of the NYSC proved abortive as the man was not around on the two occasions Sunday Tribune visited the secretariat along Maingo road in Jos South Local Government.
