As campaigns for the April election hot up, President Olusegun Obasanjo has said that he will ensure that digital leaders take over the reins of government after he leaves on May 29.
Reiterating that his administration had in the last seven years laid a solid foundation for the transformation of the nation's economy, President Obasanjo who spoke through Dr. Bolade Osinowo, special adviser to the president on Political Affairs disclosed that the choice of Governors Umaru Yar'Adua and Jonathan Goodluck was the best the PDP could offer.
The president's aide spoke on Monday night at a fund raising gala nite organized by Yar'Adua/Goodluck National Support Organization [YGNSO] to boost support for the PDP presidential candidate.
'Governors Umar Yar'Adua and Goodluck Jonathan fit the bill of the new millennium leaders required in Nigeria . Let us look at their educational credentials. One of the things that people are complaining about in this country is that for so long, they have never had graduates assume the highest office in the land. This time, we are not having just one, we are having two graduates and they are not ordinary graduates," Dr. Osinowo stated.
'Because of what this nation has turned into prior to 1999, it took remarkable focus, single mindedness and extra-ordinary purpose on the part of the president to initiate these reforms and implement them. When I talked about extra ordinary efforts, I am not only talking about physical extraction, those who know the president, wondered at the amount of energy that he puts to his work," added the presidential aide, who also scored the present administration high.
What Nigerians require after Obasanjo's exit, according to Dr. Osinowo, is 'great discipline of craftsmanship and that is why the next generation of leaders must be digital."
