THE Action Congress (AC) has replaced its Vice Presidential candidate, Chief Chudi Nwike, with a serving Senator, Ben Obi.
Obi, who hails from Anambra State, like Vice President Atiku Abubakar, won his Senatorial seat on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but could only take his seat after a two-year acrimonious court battle.
Senator Obi confirmed the development to The Guardian on phone last night, saying: "It is correct and I have filled the INEC's form."
The changes, it was gathered, was necessitated by the fact that Obi has more political clout and experience as a politician than Nwike.
He was once the National Secretary of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) and an erstwhile Special Assistant to President Olusegun Obasanjo's former National Security Adviser (NSA), Lt. Gen. Aliyu Mohammed Gusau, who contested and lost the PDP Presidential primaries.
