This biblical poser, ‘the heart of man is desperately wicked, who can understand it,' would have, no doubt, come to the minds of indigenes of Mullah Village, a small, dusty village which shares border with Plateau State, in Bogoro Local Government Area of Bauchi State, with the sight of the corpse of a naked woman.
•Kill three in weeks
This biblical poser, ‘the heart of man is desperately wicked, who can understand it,' would have, no doubt, come to the minds of indigenes of Mullah Village, a small, dusty village which shares border with Plateau State, in Bogoro Local Government Area of Bauchi State, with the sight of the corpse of a naked woman.
The dead woman's face was mutilated by her attackers. Identified by the police as Nancy Planat Bitrus, an indigene of Plateau State and believed to be between 25 and 30 years old, the corpse was found by concerned villagers, who had to cover it with wrappers.
The murder of Nancy has sent fears in the minds of residents, especially with the number of violent deaths in the state. Some people believe that ritualists are on the prowl in the state.
Daily Sun gathered Nancy's corpse was discovered by a boy, at about 8.00am. The frightened boy, on seeing the corpse, alerted the village head of Mallar.
The remains of Nancy were later deposited at Bauchi Specialist Hospital.
Few days before Nancy's corpse was discovered, a journalist was killed by suspected armed robbers in the state capital. Sa'ad, who worked with the state television, BATV, was shot dead by a three-man gang as he went to pick his son from school at the new GRA area.
Coming on the heels of this was the murder of a policeman, who was stabbed to death in Zango area of Bauchi metropolis.
Spokesman of the Bauchi State Police Command, ASP Alhassan Aliyu, told Daily Sun that late Nancy was about 5'4 tall, with no tribal mark, adding that she died with neither a sign of blood stain on the ground nor a sign of having struggled with her killers.
This had caused the conclusion that she might have been killed somewhere and her corpse deposited at the spot in Mallar Village.
Paul Dongi, a relation to the deceased, told Daily Sun that he heard about the woman's murder over the radio. He revealed that the family had expected the late Nancy home some days back and when she did not return, members of the family reported to the police.
Nancy, according to Paul Dongi, was a student of Federal College of Education Pankshin. She was said to have been visited by three boys a day before she disappeared and invited her out.
Daily Sun learnt that Nancy, until her death, was a free mixer, who socialised much.
