Robbers trade words over stolen motorcycle

Two suspected robbers fingered in the stealing of a motorcycle engaged in arguments at the Bayelsa State police command over who actually stole the motorcycle.

Two suspected robbers fingered in the stealing of a motorcycle engaged in arguments at the Bayelsa State police command over who actually stole the motorcycle.

The two robbers held at the State CID simply identified as Festus and Ojiete, both from Delta State, claimed that they knew nothing about the stolen motorcycle.

Ojiete Maduko from Afuzure told Daily Sun that he came in from Ugelli that Friday only for him to be confronted with the allegations that somebody in his compound gave Festus a stolen motorcycle for commercial purpose.

He distanced himself from the robbery: ' It was this Festus that came to knock our door early in the morning with policemen demanding to see one Gabriel, whom he said gave him a stolen motorcycle to work with. The Gabriel I know is our elder brother and he is a civil servant in Asaba. Nobody in our compound gave him a stolen motorcycle."
However, Festus was vehement in his allegations that one Gabriel living in Biogbolo gave him the motorcycle that has now landed him in trouble.

He told Daily Sun: 'It was Gabriel living in Ojite's compound that gave me the motorcycle with the agreement that I would be dropping 500 naira per day. He, however, told me that I should not ride it in daytime but in the night. I was there on Friday to give him the 500 when police arrested me in connection with the stolen motorcycle".
The police explained that the two suspects would be charged to court while manhunt has begun for Gabriel to also come and face the music.
