A letter dated December 22, 2006 reference ST:000078 signed by one O.G Abiose for the Principal Secretary to the president was all that it took to terminate the services of over 30 non-pentionable workers ,including cooks on level two attached to the official residence of Vice President Atiku Abubakar .

According to one of the letters titled 'Termination of Non-regular Appointment", it stated that 'I am directed to inform you that following the directive of the president, and commander in chief, your services are no longer required in the State House , and your non pentionabe appointment is hereby terminated with effect from December 22, 2006."
Many of the sacked workers are already searching for alternative job as security agents have prevented them from hanging around the vice president ‘s official residence.
One of the cooks was said to have been employed at the inception of the Obasanjo administration and he was placed on level 2 salary.
Meanwhile ,most of the security aides to the vice president are being redeployed to other state commands. When the Sun visted the official resident of the vice president at the villa, only three security operatives were at the gate and they were not checking visitors to the house.
The policemen were the only security men seen working opeing the gate for cars while friends of the VP were seen moving in and out at will without any molestation. In one of the rooms the VP converted as his adnistrative office inside the house, two of his men have turned to security operatives while the friends shield him where ever he goes inside the compound. His official cars , two jeeps and three saloon cars are his personal cars being used for all his movements inside the FCT. According to one of his personal aide's 'Turaki is not disturbed whether they withdrew his official vehicles or not , his friends are ready to provide for him". Asked about the sacked cooks, he said, that is the least of his problems, adding, ' we are still eating in this house".
