Of the 25 Local Governments Areas in Delta State, Uvwie, popularly know as 'I go die" local government is very notorious for senseless killing and maiming of persons by rampaging youths.

The youths, who perpetrate all forms of illegalities through the collection of 'Deve", which has been outlawed by Governor James Ibori, have started unleashing mayhem on innocent persons.

Omasheye had a sordid experience on the last Boxing Day when the Ekpan youths subjected him and his family members to an unpleasement ordeal.

During the gruesome attack, a member of the family, Isaac, had his left wrist chopped off while deep cuts were inflicted on his head. Rossy, another son of Chief E. I. Omasheye, was stabbed on the chest, eyes and ear, just as Bright, also, had part his scalp sliced like a piece of yam.Other children of Chief Uvwie were dealt with also.

The Sins of Chief Omasheye was his refusal to pay ‘Deve' of N20, 000.00 for undertaking the construction of an iron-bending plant he was contracted to execute. The soft spoken chief got what he did not bargain for, even as the warring youths allegedly went away with N800, 000.00, belonging to the chief while one of his children, Alfred also lost N50, 000.00 to the uninvited guests.
Most pathetic was Isaac, whose hand has been amputated. The 21 year old, who, until the incident, lives at Jeddo had come to meet his father for the Yuletide celebration.

Isaac and his three brothers are now on danger list at a private hospital in the area, just as the head of Omasheye family, Chief James Omasheye and others have taken up the matter with the police.
The first victim, who managed to mention names of the invading youths said: ' I came from Jeddo to collect money from my dad, but as I was trying to go back home, the daring youths accosted me at the entrance into my father's compound and started cutting my body with sharp machetes", Isaac said.
To seek, redress human rights activist, Barrister Omo-Irabor and his team have taken over the matter with the police authority in the state.

Omasheye is particularly pained by the degradation and humiliation, Isaac went through. ' My appeal to the government and law enforcement agents is that those who put my children in this conduction, especially Isaac whose hand has been amputated should be made to face justice. It is a pity that a big boy like Isaac is now one-handed young man. I cannot forgive the attackers, even though we are some how related, we will never settle, not even in heaven", Omasheye said.
Prince Udom Ekpoudom, the no-nonsense police commissioner has promised to look into the matter and ensure that justice was done.
