A 32 year old self-acclaimed Evangelist Ezekiel Uzoechi, along with another member of his church, Ifeoma Okoro, has been arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrate Court 1 on a five- count charge of defrauding a woman of N1,000,000 .

A 32 year old self-acclaimed Evangelist Ezekiel Uzoechi, along with another member of his church, Ifeoma Okoro, has been arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrate Court 1 on a five- count charge of defrauding a woman of N1,000,000 . Charging the suspects who are all members of one of the new generation churches based in Lagos, Monday, police prosecutor Sergeant Benedict Unawunwa alleged that the suspects unlawfully defrauded the victim of the money at Gowon Estate, January 12. The charges against the accused read 'That you Evangelist Ezekiel Uzoechi ‘M' 32 years, at Gowon Estate Lagos in Ikeja Magistrate District did conduct yourself in a manner likely to cause breach of the peace by pronouncing to Chief Sandra Duru 'F", the executive of Pre-Adult organisation that 'God asked you to tell her that she will die mysteriously within (7) days" and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 249(d) of the criminal code cap 17 vol," laws of Lagos State of Nigeria.
"Again, that you Evangelist Ezekiel Uzoechi ‘M', on the same time and place in the aforementioned Magistrate District in an attempt to commit felony to wit obtaining money by false pretence demanded N1million from one Chief Executive of Pre-Adult Affairs Organisation, Chief Sandra Duru ‘F' and thereby committed an offence contrary to section 509 and punishable under section 419 of the Criminal Code Cap 17 Vol. 11 laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2003." The accused person pleaded not guilty to the charges while the Magistrate, Mr F.A. Fabanwo granted him bail in the sum of N20,000. The case was adjourned till February 26.
