Nigeria's U-20 team, Flying Eagles deserved all the angry words thrown at them after losing 0-2 to Cameroon's Lion Cubs last night in one of the final roup games of the 15th African Youth Championship. Defeat means the Eagles, Cup holders, were lucky to reach the semi finals courtesy of Zambia's 3-0 defeat of Egypt in Brazzaville.
On Tuesday, the Godwin Uwua-coached Flying Eagles have their work cut out against ‘perfect' Gambia in the first semi final in the Massambat-Debat Stadium in Brazzaville.
Uwua's boys advertised a lot of sloppiness in the game and duly lost to a team that had nothing to fear after crashing out of the tournament following losses in their first two games.
Nigeria finished on four points, same as Egypt but with better goals difference. The Flying Eagles scored five goals and conceded five, while Egypt scored two and conceded four. Zambia led with six points and scored eight goals while conceding six.
