Lagos State Governor, Bola Tinubu, has described the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as party that 'represents everything evil", just as he solicited support for the State's Action Congress (AC) governorship candidate, Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN).
Tinubu, who spoke while leading thousands of AC supporters to symbolically sweep away 'the evil that the PDP represents" at the Lagos end of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, said, 'PDP represents evil, hunger, disease, unemployment, ignorance," urging Lagosians to 'sweep them and the evil they represent away from our state."
Reacting to the AC's action, PDP governorship candidate in Lagos, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, said: 'They are always quick at bringing out brooms to sweep after rallies, unfortunately, they're not applying the same energy and enthusiasm to clean Lagos, otherwise the state won't be as dirty as it is."
The ruling party flagged off its presidential campaign in Lagos last weekend which was attended by President Olusegun Obasanjo and other party bigwigs.
While urging the people of Lagos to vote the AC flagbearer in the state, Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN), as their next governor in April", the governor assured them 'his victory would guarantee continuity of good things of life, like qualitative education, good health care delivery and infrastructural development."
Speaking further, Tinubu, who was excited at the large turn out of party faithfuls, wondered if the PDP could claim to be in existence in Lagos 'with its Saturday tsunamic rally that attracted just a handful of supporters, mainly from outside Lagos", expressing assurance that 'come April, AC would beat thee PDP silly."
The governor therefore urged the Lagos people to come out enmasse to vote all the AC candidates in April while he explained the need to 'vote and defend your votes", stressing that 'it is a sacrifice worthy of laying one's life down for."
Also speaking at the ceremony, the AC flagbearer, Fashola said: 'With their Saturday tsunamic rally, it is crystal clear that PDP constitute no threat to my ambition", adding 'their flagbearer is also not my match."
Amidst ovation from party members and other well wishers who shouted the party slogans, Fashola assured the people of Lagos of continuity of the good work Tinubu had started, adding that they would not regret voting him.
The 43-year-old lawyer told the broom-clutching party supporters that the intention of the PDP to capture Lagos at all costs would be frustrated, asserting that 'their intention is like wishing the Center of Excellence bad luck."
