Abuja - Forty-eight hours away to the execution of a Nigerian teenager, Master Iwuchukwu Amara Tochi by the Singaporean authourities over allegation of peddling 727.03 grammes of an illicit drug called heroine, the Federal Government yesterday moved to halt the scheduled execution.

Specifically, the government is begging Singapore to either grant the Nigerian teen a presidential clemency or commute the death sentence to life term.
Spear-heading the move to reverse the death sentence is the nation's Federation Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Chief Christopher Adebayo Ojo.
Already, he has written a passionate but powerful letter to his counterpart in Singapore, requesting for presidential pardon on his behalf.
Vanguard also gathered yesterday that President Olusegun Obasanjo has also written the Singaporean Chief of State, President Sellapan Rama, for the reversion of the death sentence to life term.
Tochi, a 19-year old Nigerian was arraigned before a Singaporean high court recently for drug peddling. He was tried, convicted and sentenced to death by the high court.
The death sentence was however appealed at the country's Court of Appeal but the sentence was unfortunately affirmed.
In a related development, the House of Representatives yesterday passed a resolution calling on President Olusegun Obasanjo to save Tochi Iwuchukwu's life.
The motion was sponsored by Mr. John Halims Agoda (PDP Ethiope Federal constituency, Delta State )..
The condemned Nigerian teen is presently on death row awaiting the hangman's noose.
