Fraud: ICPC nabs 3 govt officials… Recovers N3m from bizman

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), said it has recovered over three million naira from Mr. Frank Amadasun, managing director and chief executive officer of Madonna Organisation Limited.

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), said it has recovered over three million naira from Mr. Frank Amadasun, managing director and chief executive officer of Madonna Organisation Limited.

Mike Sowe, the commission's Head of Public Enlightenment, said in a statement Wednesday in Abuja, that the money had been fraudulently converted into personal use by Amadasun, instead of remitting it to the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF).

He explained that Amadasun, who would soon be charged to court, was arrested and detained for allegedly making false statements on returns, thereby committing an offence contrary to section 16, of the ICPC Act.

In a related development, the commission has three government officials in Imo State, for alleged diversion and embezzlement of the State Primary Education Board (SPEB) Pay As You Earn (PAYE) funds to the tune of #8million.
Those arrested for the alleged fraud, according to the ICPC spokesman, are the Chief Accountant of the Local Education Authority, Mr. Miike Obioma; a tax collector, Mr. Anthony Nwedo, and Mr. Ahumibe Samuel Ejike.
He said the commission is still investigating the fraud, and is making frantic efforts to recover the misappropriated funds.
