NIGERIA/MALTA (di-ve news)--January 13, 2007 - 1130CET--Two police officers were slightly injured last Tuesday after a number of irregular immigrants assaulted them.
The incident took place at Lagos Airport in Nigerian where a number of Nigerian nationals who were repatriated where being handed over to the Nigerian Immigration authorities.
The repatriated Nigerians were lead down the aircraft on to the apron under the supervision of the Nigerian immigration officials.
At one point, whilst the Maltese police officers in charge of the repatriation were discussing logistical issues with Nigerian officers, a few of the repatriated immigrants appeared uneasy and approached the two officers.
These immigrants rapidly dashed towards the two officers but only managed to hit them with very few blows, causing them very insignificant injuries, which did not require any medical attention.
