Nigerian pilgrims who performed the 2006 Hajj have been disallowed from leaving Saudi Arabia with some of their belongings.
Daily Sun gathered that the items the pilgrims were made to leave behind at the Jeddah International Airport included computer laptops, perfumes and electronics.
The affected pilgrims feared that security reasons were adduced to seize the items. Meanwhile, the Presidential Committee on the 2006 Haji (PCH), it was learnt, has protested the development to the Saudi authorities.
Reacting to the seizure, Sultan of Sokoto and Amiral Hajj, Alhaji said Mohammed Abubarkar III, dismissed the fears.
The Sultan, who paid a visit to the pilgrims' luggage weighing centres in Mecca, expressed satisfaction with arrangements made by PCH to ease movement of luggage.
