AHEAD of today's primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to pick its presidential flag-bearer, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Mohammed Sa'ad has called on the aspirants to abide by the rules of the game.
The Sultan spoke to journalists yesterday at the presidential wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport, after his inspection of Hajj formations in Lagos.
He urged the aspirants to eschew violence at the polls. The monarch also reminded them that only God gives power, so anybody who loses should accept his fate, while the winner should carry others along.
On this year's hajj, the Sultan expressed happiness over the exercise, stressing that committed people were appointed to handle the exercise.
According to him, "people realised that they needed to do things for people rather than for themselves. The most striking is the formation of the Hajj Commission, an independent body, with the appointment of both permanent and non-permanent members as a very big step towards achieving a hitch-free hajj in the coming years."
