The Commissioner of Police in charge of the Police Mobile Force (PMF), Mr. Felix Oteka, has been shot dead. He was killed at about 12.30pm on Tuesday in Abuja , by a gang of yet-to-be identified gunmen.

Police sources said the slain Mopol chief who was heading for a meeting, was shot point-blank by the gangsters who may have trailed him for sometime before pumping a volley of bullets into the official car in which he was riding, close to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) headquarters in the Central Business District Area of the federal capital city.

However, his driver and orderly escaped unhurt, just as nothing was removed from his car by the gunmen who zoomed off after killing the police top brass.

Confirming the incident, FCT Police Commissioner, Mr. Lawrence Alobi, said the motive for the act had not been ascertained at press time, even as he said detectives had begun a manhunt for the fleeing bandits.

'Yes, it is true that the Compol Mopol was shot dead, but I can't tell you for now, whether it was a case of armed robbery or assassination. Nothing was taken away from his vehicle after the attack. Investigations have since commenced on the incident, and my men are on the trail of the hoodlums," Alobi told Daily Sun Tuesday, on telephone.
