Nasarawa State government has completed plans to build an HIV\AIDS hospital in the state in order to cater for affected persons.
State governor, Alhaji Abdullahi Adamu stated this on the occasion of a stakeholders' Consultative Forum on Nasarawa State Economic Empowerment and Development Strategy (NASEEDS) zero draft held at the Ibrahim Abacha Youth Centre, Lafia. He also lamnted that the dreaded scourge has been taking a toll on Nigeria, and the resultant deaths have contributed so much in aggravating the poverty rate in the country.
Also at the occasion, the Special Adviser to the President on Economic Matters, Professor Ode Ojowu said the National Planning Commission would do everything possible to ensure that Nasarawa State Economic Empowerment and Development Strategy (NASEEDS) succeeds in its developmental projects in the state.
Professor Ojowu said the State Economic Empowerment Development Strategy (SEEDS) would ensure that poverty reduction and good governance in the state takes a prime position and consideration, pointing out that 24 states across the six geo-political zones of the country have joined SEEDS with Nasarawa as as one of the best.
The adviser urged the state not to allow its programmes to be mere political statements but ones backed by concrete action that would positively impact on the lives of the people of the state.
Also speaking, the state Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Alhaji Usman Bagudu said SEEDS constituted by the state governor who is also the chairman has started yielding results with the appointment of a consultant. While commending the governor for the bold steps, Bagudu called on all stakeholders to join hands in ensuring the success of the programme in the state.
