A member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees and senatorial aspirant in Ekiti State, Chief Dayo Okondo, would be arraigned in court next week at Ado Ekiti, over the murder of PDP governorship aspirant in the state, Ayo Daramola.

To be charged along with him, are Mr. Adegoke Olatunji, Personal Assistant to suspended Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State and six others, including five young men whose leader, Olanipekun Taiwo, confessed to being hired by Fayose's aide and two others to kill Daramola.
Inspector General of police, Mr. Sunday Ehindero, who announced the completion of investigations into the murder at a late evening press conference on Thursday, in Abuja, however, neither disclosed the motive for the killing, nor the charges slammed on the suspects.
Debunking insinuations that one Olumide, one of the principal actors among the six-man killer gang was shot dead by the police to conceal vital evidence, the IGP explained that Olumide was hit by police bullets while trying to escape arrest following his involvement in another robbery incident.
His claim was corroborated by police Sergeant Taribo, the cop who shot Olumide as he attempted to evade arrest by jumping through a window at his residence in Ikere Ekiti.
Ehindero said in the course of investigations, the police recovered two brand new Toyota Hiace buses and a black jeep owned by Chief Okondo. He said that Taiwo alleged that the jeep was used by Fayose's PA and two others, when they contracted him at a hotel to kill Daramola for a fee of N1million and two buses for himself and the late Olumide.
A dramatic scenario, however, played out as Taiwo pointedly accused Fayose's PA and Chief Okondo of being deeply involved in financing the plot, an allegation that was vehemently denied by the duo who claimed they were not in Ekiti when Daramola was murdered.
