For their contributions to the unity of Nigeria, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, the Abia State Governor alongside four other governors would be turbaned by the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari (CFR) on the eleventh anniversary of his installation.
For their contributions to the unity of Nigeria, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, the Abia State Governor alongside four other governors would be turbaned by the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari (CFR) on the eleventh anniversary of his installation.
Dr. Uzor Kalu would be made Dan Galdima of Ilorin. Other Governors to be given titles include, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki of Kwara State (Turaki of Ilorin), Ahmadu Adamu Muazu, Bauchi State (Kaigama of Ilorin), Ahmed Bola Tinubu, Lagos (Maiyaki of Ilorin), and Dr. Peter Odili, Rivers State (Mejindandi of Ilorin). Dr. Saraki would receive his title on November 10, while others including Governor Uzor Kalu would the following day.
The chairman of the Publicity Committee, Alhaji Salihu Woru Mohammed, Magaji Nda of Ilorin briefing the Press on the activities of the event, said aside governors, other personalities would be conferred with title at weeklong event. They are Hon. Justice M. B. Belgore (Wali of Ilorin), Professor Shuaibu Oba Abdulrahim (Taliba of Ilorin), Alhaji Kola Belgore (Jarma of Ilorin), Engr. Lanre Shagaya (Zanna of Ilorin), and Alhaji Bature Sulu-Gambari (Ciroma of Ilorin).
Alhaji Mohammed said the Emir considered not only the contribution of the State governors to the development of their States but their interest in Nigerian unity. 'The Emir has looked at many things before his decision to confer the governors with the titles. They have contributed immensely to the unification of our great country. Some of the governors are friends of the Emirate. The Emir believe that they have helped the nation immensely."
