El-Rufai offers crash survivor job

Minister of Federal Capital Territory(FCT), Mallam Nasir El-Rufai has promised one of the survivors of ADC plane crash, Miss Egwu Patience Magnus, a job as immigration official.

Minister of Federal Capital Territory(FCT), Mallam Nasir El-Rufai has promised one of the survivors of ADC plane crash, Miss Egwu Patience Magnus, a job as immigration official.

Making the promise Tuesday at the National Hospital, Abuja, where he went to commiserate with the survivors of the air disaster, he also noted that the FCT administration will do all it could to alleviate the pains of the survivors.

Earlier, the Minister had visited Mr Peter Onuka who said that he was a crew member in the ill-fated plane. According to him, he lives in Lagos and all he could remember was when the plane took off. ‘I didn't know what happened after", he said.

Mr Nura Jabo was going for aptitude test for Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) while one of the daughters of Kogi State Governor, Miss Aisha Idris was still in coma and was seen sleeping when the Minister got to her bed.

Mallam Zarau Umarujega, a student of Usman Dan Fodio University, Sokoto, said that he was going to school when the incident took place.
But when the Minister got to Miss Egwu Patience Magnus, she said that she read political science in University of Calabar and after her youth service in Zamfara she came to Abuja for immigration interview.

However, along the line she needed some money and she decided to go to Zamfara via Sokoto to withdraw some money from the savings she made during her service year.
While promising her the job, El-Rufai said that he will discuss with the Minister of Internal Affairs to grant her the job.

Esther Amoda, a youth corps member serving in Sokoto later told the Minister that she would not want to go back to Sokoto to serve. But the Minister insisted that she should go back there when she recuperated fully.
Addressing newsmen after the visit, the Minister described the incident as tragic saying that such monumental tragedy was regretted. "I only pray for the soul of the deceased and pray that this is the last. We pray that this does not happen again," he said.
