Barely a week to the kick-off of the African Women Championship (AWC), Delta State Commissioner for Sports, Chief Solomon Ogba, has assured on maximum security for visitors to the state.

Barely a week to the kick-off of the African Women Championship (AWC), Delta State Commissioner for Sports, Chief Solomon Ogba, has assured on maximum security for visitors to the state.

Ogba said Delta State security services have met and fine tuned their security strategies to ensure that the ‘Big Heart' hosts a successful and hitch-free championship.
According to Ogba, visiting countries for the AWC have no cause to panic as maximum security will be provided at all levels ad venues throughout the two weeks duration of the championship.

"I am assuring all the seven countries their officials and players that their safety will be guarranteed.
"Delta is a peaceful state, even the so-called Area Boys have volunteered themselves to help in beefing up the security of lives, there will be adequate security personnel mounted at strategic places," he assured.
It would be recalled that Minister of Sports and Social Development, Bala Ka'oje, had earlier assured ambassadors of the seven countries of a hitch free and memorable stay in the country during the championship.

Meanwhile, Arik Airline has agreed to partner with the AWC by airlifting players and officials of the visiting countries for the AWC.
The players and officials will be airlifted on arrival in Nigeria from Lagos to Benin, Edo State for their onward journey to Delta State.
Countries expected at the AWC are South Africa, Ghana, Algeria, Cameroon, Mali and Equitorial Guinea.
