Enugu State capital was recently thrown into pandemonium when cultists threw caution to the wind and unleashed attack on each other, at the end of the barbaric act, no fewer than five youths were feared dead.

Informed sources told CrimeFile that the incident might not be unconnected with supremacy of power between members of the outlawed Black Axe and Vikings fraternity in the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT). An eye witness said that the bloody clash occurred almost in a sequence as the unidentified armed boys pursued another youth into Orifite Street, Ogui New Lay-out, in the heart of the Coal City.

Apparently aware of the danger, the young boy who was said to be a final year student of ESUT, ran into the Orifite Street, a residential quarters for safety, but unfortunately, the occupants of the house dragged him out only for the trigger-happy gunmen to stab him to death. The clash that ensued attracted passers-by and before could say Jack Robison, the killers have fled the scene, leaving the lifeless body on the ground. It was learnt that the Orifite murder was just one of the homicides that happened on that day as two other clashes took place at Amausa, a densely populated area and Asata all in Ogui urban in Enugu metropolis.

Crimefile gathered that Police swooped on the residents of the area where the brutal murders occurred, for interrogation. Even as the cultists' war shook the entire area in Ogui urban, the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Mike Abatam, said he was yet to be properly briefed on what transpired. Meanwhile, the police from Ogui Police Station, Enugu, had since removed the bodies of the dead cultists while investigations were said to be going on.

In another development, the Police in Abakiliki, Ebonyi State, last week arrested two suspected armed robbers who were attempting to snatch a Sagem MCx52Vhandset from a lady. Disclosing this to reporters, the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Godwin Wekwa, said the notorious criminals jumped down from a motorcycle and accosted the lady in an attempt to snatch her bag containing a handset. The Police image maker stated that the two suspects were arrested following a search by the victim, Florence.

But in a swift reaction, one of the suspects, Patrick Nwefuru said he was not an armed robber but rather an 'Okada" rider, arguing that he never knew that the passenger he carried was a thief.
