The nation's aviation industry suffered another setback yesterday as a four-seater trainer aircraft belonging to the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria crashed few seconds after take-off, injuring all four passengers on board .
The nation's aviation industry suffered another setback yesterday as a four-seater trainer aircraft belonging to the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria crashed few seconds after take-off, injuring all four passengers on board .
The trainer aircraft with registration number 5N CBF said to be carrying three student pilots and their instructor crashed at a village, Fam- Fulani, Mardanni in Zaria Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
An eye-witness account said the aircraft suddenly developed technical problems mid-air and crashed within minutes.
According to the eye witness, the four occupants of the crashed plane were rescued alive by a combined team of fire fighters and the rescue officials from the emergency department of the college.
The four occupants, including the instructor, Chinyere Kalu said to be the first Nigerian female pilot are currently receiving treatment at the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Shika, Zaria.
The Rector of the college, Mrs. Folashade Odutola could not be reached as at the time of filing this report.
However, the scene of the crash has been cordoned off by security officials of the college, even as top engineers of the institution have already started to investigate the cause of the crash.
