Nigerian side Enyimba have sacked their coach Alphonsus Dike after their poor performances in the 2006 African Champions League and in the local league.
The two-time African champions failed to make it past the group stages of this year Champions League and did not qualify for the 2007 event after a poor league performance.
They also crashed out of the Nigerian FA Cup, despite starting as defending champions and favourites to retain the trophy.
According to Abia State (the club's owner and financier) commissioner for sport Emeka Inyama, Dike and his assistant Sylvanus Okpalla have both been fired with immediate effect.
"Enyimba is a big team and what happened this season is a disgrace to us, hence both coaches need to go for a fresh start," Inyama told BBC Sport.
"We have given the management the opportunity to correct the wrongs and coach Fatai Amoo will be in charge for the time being."
Enyimba won the African Champions League title on 2003 and 2004.
