The Governors Forum rose from a five and a half hours meeting with a strong-worded condemnation of comments made by the chairman of EFCC, Nuhu Ribadu, that no fewer than 31 governors are either guilty or being investigated for corruption.

'We condemn in its entirety statements made by the chairman of EFCC on the floor of the senate giving the erroneous impression that 31 states governors are indicted for corruption," said a communiqué made public at the weekend after the meeting held in Abuja Wednesday.

The forum also noted with concern the political development in Ekiti state and condemned what it described as the use of force 'to cajole the respective houses of assembly to impeach their governors." The governors also demanded that appropriate procedures by used in removing the governors without intimidation and coercion.

While thanking the Minister of Finance, Hajia Nenadi Usman, who was at the meeting to brief the governors, the communiqué said they demanded that the process of the federal agricultural loan scheme be reviewed in order to ensure that adequate practical measures are put in place to guarantee access to the loans by farmers.
