The immediate past president of the Campaign for Democracy (CD) and convener Voters' Assembly, Comrade Moshood Erubami, has spoken in favour of the moves to impeach the beleaguered Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose.
He told Saturday Sun that the appropriation of state resources for private ends by public officers was largely responsible for the poverty that is the lot of the average Nigerian citizenry. He therefore submitted that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) should be given adequate support in its frontal battle against corruption.
'Today, Fayose remains a suspect but if found quality of the charges, he should be punished. The few in power appropriating state resources are responsible for the impoverishment of our people. It's in our best interest that they should be punished, if found quilty".
Speaking further, Erubami submitted that it would not be enough for the Ekiti State governor to resign from office, to avoid persecution as being speculated.
'He has the option to resign, but if he refused to resign, the Ekiti State Assembly should do the right thing. It's more than just tendering resignation letter. If he's found guilty of the charges, he should be prosecuted".
