Showumni's move lands agent in trouble

The English Football Association has charged agent Charles Collymore with a breach of its regulations.

The English Football Association has charged agent Charles Collymore with a breach of its regulations.

An FA statement read on Tuesday, 'It is alleged Collymore touted the then Luton player Enoch Showumni to Millwall without the knowledge or consent of Luton.

'It is also alleged he represented Showumni without a written contract, or he did not lodge it with the FA."

The charge has been brought following information provided by Luton Manager Mike Newell.

The FA says it is still investigating another claim made by Newell, who met with the FA in January after he made claims about corruption in football.

Nigerian Showumni is now a Bristol City player.

The charge against Collymore is unrelated to the recent allegations made by the BBC's Panorama programme.

He has until October 17 to respond to the charge regarding Showumni.

Meanwhile, another agent, Saif Rubie, has been fined £600 and had his agent's licence suspended following a disciplinary hearing.
