The duo of President Olusegun Obasanjo and Vice President Atiku Abubakar may after all present themselves for scrutiny before the Senate Ad hoc committee probing the misappropriation of fund at the Petroleum Development Technology Fund (PTDF).

This was disclosed yesterday by the Chairman of the probe panel, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, who also doubles as the Senate Committee Chairman on Media and Publicity, while fielding questions from journalists.

According to him, both the President and his Vice have indicated their willingness to appear before the committee. When pressed further to state in clear terms whether the committee would extend its invitation to them, Ndoma-Egba said, 'It will be premature for me to say that now. But what I can confirm to you is that they have indicated their willingness to appear before the committee."

Meanwhile, the Senate President, Ken Nnamani, will today (Wednesday) formally inaugurate the 13-member committee. At the pre-inaugural meeting, the chairman of the committee pledged that the committee would discharge its assignment with the highest sense of responsibility.

In a related development, Senators on Tuesday poured encomium on the person of the Senate President over the honour of GCON bestowed on him by the Federal Government.

The stage for the pouring of the encomium was cleared by the Senate Leader, Senator Dalhatu Tafida, who raised the issue under order 14, which confer certain privileges on the Senators. From then on, virtually all the Senators took their turn to eulogise their leader, with Senator Joy Emordi (Anambra), while praising the leadership qualities of the Senate President, saying 'there was a time we cannot move around with our plate numbers tagged ‘Senator'.

But since you (Nnamani) came, you have turned our image around."
Speaking in the same vein, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba said : 'Our adage says when you have something, you must do ‘shakara' with it. You have given us purposeful leadership. Keep up the good work, may the sky be your limit."
