A fifty-five year old man, Mr. Godwin Ikenwu has been charged with assault and rape of a nine-year-old girl one, Miss. Lemoha. The shocking act was uncovered last weekend on Prophet Adeoye Street, Agodo, Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State at about 10:00am in the morning.

The victim's mother, Mrs. Roseline Lemoha who narrated the story to perplexed audience at the palace of the Baale of Agodo, Alhaji Mudashiru said that one of her daughters caught Mr. Godwin Ikenwu defiling her sister and raised alarm. She said that by the time the news got to her and she rushed home, people have already gathered and the landlord has intervened.
Mrs. Lemoha said that she refused to call the police because of the affinity between her family and the Ikenwu's but instead decided that he should take her daughter to a good hospital for proper medical treatment, which should include HIV test.
She however said that what provoked her was when Mr. Ikenwu refused to heed her suggestion insisting that there was no blood hence no penetration. Since she has rejected the urge by neighbours and friends to call police or go to court, she decided to bring the matter to the palace of the Baale to make him see reason and do the necessary things.
Miss. Adanna when called to narrate what transpired between her and Mr. Ikenwu said, she was in search of her friend who is Mr. Ikenwu's daughter but she was not available. There and then, Ikenwu lured her into the room and asked her to remove her pant. She obeyed and Mr. Ikenwu first inserted his fingers before he mounted her.
She also said this was not the first time but the act has been going on for a long time now and that Saturday's 'show" was the fifth. The girl further said that she refused to tell her parents because Mr. Ikenwu told her that if she should divulge the secret she would die.
But Mr. Ikenwu when called upon to make his own defense, admitted the act and all that the family said. He said that he is only pleading for forgiveness and reconciliation with the family. His action he said was devil's work, when reminded that the devil could not have had his way five times he did not answer.
Saturday Sun asked him about his wife's reaction, Ikenwu said she was violent with him as she had slapped and fought him, adding that right now, they were not in talking terms.
Saturday Sun gathered that though the 'court" of the Baale may not be a conventional court but judgement has been fair to all. For instance Mr. Ikenwu was made to sign an undertaking that he committed this crime though the judgement was not delivered immediately but feelers were that he will be made to accept all Mrs. Lemoha's request and may even be asked to relocate from the community.
