I've no oil bloc -Wabara

Former Senate President, Adolphus Wabara, has said that contrary to insinuation in some quarters, he has never been a beneficiary of oil blocs in Nigeria.

He was however quick to add that it was possible that somebody somewhere was using his name in that respect without his (Wabara) knowledge.

Reacting to Professor Tam David-West's claim in Tuesday's edition of Daily Sun to the effect that he (Wabara) was given an oil bloc by President Olusegun Obasanjo, Wabara said: 'I respect the Professor's views on his war against corruption. But I expected him to have done an in-depth research to verify his facts on my humble self before going to the public.

'As I speak, and I stand to be investigated by either the EFCC or any government agency, I have no oil bloc in Nigeria . If somebody is using my name, Tam should let me know, because it is possible that an oil bloc was issued in my name to someone else. I would have loved to own one, but I don't have any.

'Maybe, probably before the crisis (that swept him (Wabara) from office), my name was forwarded for the purpose of allotting a bloc to me, and when it was allotted eventually, someone claimed it. I'm not sure, if that was what happened but if my name is there, certainly it is someone else and not me that is benefiting from that gesture. The professor should please let me know who the person is, so that I can go grab it," Wabara insisted.
