Ojukwu, Obi, Umeh shun APGA stakeholders' meeting

MEMBERS of the Chief Chekwas Okorie-led executive of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) expelled from the party by the National Working Committee led by Chief Victor Umeh, yesterday, held what they called a 'meeting of stakeholders in Enugu but without the party leaders including Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu in attendance.

Enugu - MEMBERS of the Chief Chekwas Okorie-led executive of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) expelled from the party by the National Working Committee led by Chief Victor Umeh, yesterday, held what they called a 'meeting of stakeholders in Enugu but without the party leaders including Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu in attendance. The only Governor elected under the platform of the party, Mr. Peter Obi of Anambra State, was also absent.

Ojukwu, who was the presidential candidate of the party in 2003 election and the National Chairman, Chief Victor Umeh, had on Wednesday dismissed as illegal the meeting reportedly convened by Uche Onyeagucha, a member of House of Representatives and consequently distanced themselves from the gathering.

The convener had said that the meeting was summoned for the purpose of reconciling the two factions led by Chiefs Umeh and Okorie, but none of them showed up at the meeting where many party members, apparently disappointed by the change of agenda, staged a walk-out.

The meeting presided over by Hon. Onyeagucha and former governorship candidate of the party in Enugu State, Chief Ugo Agballah, however, resolved to pass a vote of no confidence on Chief Umeh, whose alleged 'nefarious and clandestine activities" they strongly condemned and called on all party members, ward, Local Government, State and National Officers, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), all Government Agencies, other Political parties, the media and the general public 'to stop further dealings with Chief Victor Umeh on behalf of APGA."
