Fresh angle is set to open into the Engr Funsho Williams murder probe on Tuesday as police detectives go after 15 top Lagos State government officials, who will be quizzed at the Force Criminal Investigations Department (FCID), Alagbon.

Before the development, the police had mounted a round-the-clock surveillance on some Lagos State government officials, including commissioners and Governor Bola Tinubu's security aides. This followed police suspicion that leaders of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) in Lagos may know something about the killing.

Commenting on the progress of investigations and the latest development, the Inspector General of Police, Mr Sunday Ehindero, told Daily Sun on phone: 'We're not going to leave any stone unturned. We must follow every lead."

Sources close to the police investigators told Daily Sun that members of the public were sending tips to the police on phone, but detectives were said to have disregarded some of the allegations, which they found to have been made out of malice.

Security agents, it was gathered, had been on the trail of some Lagos government officials who have, eventually, been invited to meet with detectives on Tuesday.

After the murder of Williams on July 27, the police clamped down on Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirants, who were detained for days at the FCID along with the slain politician's aides and some Chadian guards, who worked at the Dolphin Estate home of Williams.
Williams' aides and guards are still in detention.
