Hoodlums attack Obanikoro’s campaign train

Hoodlums, suspected to be political thugs, on Saturday attacked the campaign train of the Peoples Democratic Party governorship aspirant in Lagos State, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, leaving at least six people seriously injured.

Hoodlums, suspected to be political thugs, on Saturday attacked the campaign train of the Peoples Democratic Party governorship aspirant in Lagos State, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, leaving at least six people seriously injured.

Three vehicles belonging to the politician’s campaign organisation and some musical instruments were also vandalised by the thugs, who reportedly wielded dangerous weapons and charms.

Our correspondent learnt that the hoodlums, in three vehicles, trailed the campaign train from Badagry, the venue of the PDP rally, and caught up with them around Iberekodo, a few kilometres before Agbara.

Although the governorship aspirant, who was in the convoy at the time of the attack, escaped unhurt, some of his supporters were stabbed and they are still receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.

Obanikoro, in a telephone interview with our correspondent on Sunday, said he narrowly escaped attack as he was the main target.

He said the incident confirmed that some people were not happy with his rising political profile.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, Mr. Olubode Ojajuni, a deputy superintendent of police, confirmed the incident to our correspondent on Sunday.

Ojajuni said seven suspects had been arrested in connection with the case and that the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti Street, Yaba, was investigating the suspects.

This is a great piece of history, which is dear to our hearts as people and very much appreciated.

Many thanks to the people who worked hard in the past and those who are still making efforts to keep the institution.

The labour is obviouly worth it. We are proud of you all.

A lot still to be done, with the motivation of the champions of this course, others will follow as well to maintain the institution

May God continue to keep the edifice for development of future generations to the glory of God and the benefits of our fatherland.
