President Olusegun Oba-sanjo Monday relieved former Aviation Minister, Dr. Kema Chikwe, of her position as chairman of the Governing Board of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Chief Ufot Ekaette, also named Chief Amaugo Ugoji, as Chikwe's successor.
A letter of appointment issued to Ugoji with reference number SGF. 19/S.81/T/20, dated 7th August, 2006 and signed by Ekaette, which THISDAY got from the Presidency last night was entitled: 'Replacement of the Chairman of the Governing Board of Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB)."
The two-paragraph letter read: 'I write to inform you that Mr. President has approved your appointment as the Chairman of the Governing Board of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). Congratulations."
Cited as one of the possible reasons for removing her was said to be the crisis that has rocked the Imo State chapter of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) where the former Minister is seeking to be the governorship candidate of the party.
