A combined team of policemen from Lagos and Osun states on Tuesday searched the Ikeja residence of the Lagos State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola.

The search, our correspondent learnt, was carried out shortly after the policemen from Osun State took the statement of the commissioner at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti.
Aregbesola, an Alliance for Democracy governorship aspirant in Osun State, was arrested in Lagos on Sunday following Saturday's clash between his supporters and those of the state governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, in Osogbo.
He was moved to the SCID after the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Emmanuel Adebayo, interrogated him at the command headquarters in Ikeja.
Aregbesola was, however, granted bail on self-cognizance on Monday.
It was learnt that the earlier arrangement was that the aspirant would be moved to Osogbo on Tuesday (yesterday) where he would be made to answer questions on the clash that claimed one live.
A source said the police team however decided that since he had been granted bail, he could still be invited anytime to answer questions that might come up during investigations.
The source said the search carried out on Aregbesola's residence was, among others, to ascertain his claims that his vehicles were shot at during the scuffle in Osogbo.
The source could not, however, give details of the findings of the policemen who searched the house.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, Mr. Olubode Ojajuni, a deputy superintendent of police, told our correspondent on the phone on Tuesday that the commissioner's release was in line with the command's commitment to respect human rights.
Ojajuni said Aregbesola was invited and released within 24 hours as stipulated by the constitution.
But Aregbesola told our correspondent on the phone that the police search was carried out on Monday afternoon.
He said the policemen from Osogbo returned to the house at about 5pm on Tuesday to inspect his bullet-ridden Jeep.
He confirmed that two officers from Osogbo, interrogated him when he returned to the SCID on Tuesday.
Aregbesola added that he opted to adopt the statement earlier made to the police when he was asked to make another one.
The commissioner said he was released at about 8pm on Tuesday.
