Unknown to many, President Olusegun Obasanjo was among the many rich Nigerians the no-nonsense Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mallam Nasir el Rufai, revoked their landed property title deeds in Abuja for failing to comply with the FCDA's directives.

The minister made this shocking disclosure, Sunday, while fielding questions at a Grand House Reception, held in his honour at the Coliseum Niteshift, Ikeja, Lagos.

El-Rufai, who was accompanied to the evening event by his wife and other top government officials and aides from his ministry said: 'A very good friend of Mr President went to him and complained that I revoked his landed property title for failing to comply with our directives, that land owners in Abuja should develop their lands within a specified period of time.

But to his consternation, Mr President told him that there was nothing he could do because his own was similarly revoked for his failure to obey my ministry's directives too."

El-Rufai, who was dressed in a cream coloured suit with an inner white long sleeve shirt, a tie and a matching pair of brown Swede shoes, also disclosed that his ministry had sacked over 100 workers for various fraudulent land related offences. He added that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), had equally prosecuted some of the affected workers.

'Nigerians should learn how to do things properly. They should obey simple rules and regulations. In the last three years, Abuja has attracted more heads of state than any other African nation. Our dream is to make Abuja the capital of Africa and not only Nigeria," he said.

The diminutive helmsman of FCT, who later took to the Coliseum Niteshift dance floor with his wife, friends and well-wishers also got a standing ovation when he promised to donate free plots of land for the erection of Niteshift Coliseum in Abuja. 'If they can see me before we leave office in Abuja. I promise to donate free plots of land so they can build the Abuja version of the Nite Club."
