ETF votes N5bn to revamp technical education

The Education Trust Fund on Sunday said that it had earmarked about N5billion to fund technical and vocational education.

The Deputy Director, Public Affair of the ETF, Mr. Jacob Alada, said at a press conference in Abuja that out of the N5billion, N205million was allocated to colleges of education for rehabilitation and procurement of technical equipment.

He said that N740million was allocated to the federal and state ministries of education to rehabilitate and procure technical equipment for their technical and vocational secondary schools.

He said that the National Board for Technical Education, Kaduna and the National Business and Technical Examination Board, Benin were allocated N20 million each to strengthen technical and vocational education.

Alada said that the Federal Ministry of Education, which supervises 19 technical colleges, was allocated N190 million.

According to him, the ETF has adopted various strategies, including supporting agencies to develop appropriate curriculum on technical and vocational education to achieve its aim.

It has also constituted teams to visit all the technical schools to assess their conditions.
