Rimi's wife's murder has no political connotation, says IG

KANO - THE Inspector- General of Police, Mr. Sunday Ehindero, has said the murder of late Sa'adatu Rimi has no political connotation.....

KANO - THE Inspector- General of Police, Mr. Sunday Ehindero, has said the murder of late Sa'adatu Rimi has no political connotation, as current investigations has established that the case may be an insider work or a family affair.

The Police boss who dropped the hint in Kano weekend, shortly after the passing-out ceremony of police officers in Wudil Police Academy, also warned the public from making statements or insinuations on cases of assassination in the interest of peace.
His words: 'What I am saying is for the members of the public to desist from jumping to conclusion that all assassinations are politically motivated or otherwise until investigations are over."

Speaking with pressmen in Kano when asked about the murder case of Alhaji Rimi's wife, he explained that the case which is still before a court in Kano has no political connotation, ‘‘you can go to court and see for yourself, you know the case I am referring to.''
On whether he was served a court order to release Alhaji Dan Agundi and two others, the IGP said that he was never served with such a court order. 'Which court order? Have you seen it yourself?"

'My men and officers are capable of detecting any crime, be it murder or assassination, I still want you to know that from what we have now, it's not all that easy for the police to address or tackle a case of an insider and family matter. We have to be very careful not to make a mistake." 'I can assure you that, we can comfortably address all politically motivated killings but that of an internal family affair is going to be difficult for police to stopped it.

'As far as I am concerned, I have identified and embraced peace as the only veritable tool towards the development of any society and state and that is why we must give peace a chance," the Senator remarked.

Senator Mohammed however made it clear that despite the reconciliation, he has not and does not intend to drop his gubernatorial ambition for next year, saying, 'I am still in the race."
'I am a party loyalist and I have the right to contest; I am still in the race; I know that it is God that gives anything you seek for and I know Allah will give me and the people will give me their support to deliver the state," he declared.
