UMUAHIA - Youths of Umuejimoke Eziani community in Ihiala Local government council in Anambra State, have dragged the community heads before an Ihiala High court sitting in Anambra State over an alleged sale and disposal of the community ancestral, communal land.

The youths are in the suit, asking the court to restrain the defendants in the suit, Vitus Onyejiaku, Emmanuel Oledibe, Daniel Agubosim and Basil Ezeh (all executives of the village meeting) from further sale or disposal of Umuejimoke Eziani communal lands, especially the vast parcel of land on the border of Umuejimoke Eziani community and Ubulu Isi Uzo community.

The court is further asked to nullify all the sale/disposal of lands and/or properties of Umuejimoke Eziani village by the defendants without the authority of the community.
According to the youths, the court should also declare that the defendants are not competent to mortgage the future of the entire Umuejimoke Eziani indigenes against their will, especially the youths by selling off all their ancestral inheritance especially the parcel of land situated on the border of Umuejimoke Eziani community and Ubulu Isi Uzo community.

Plaintiff in the suit, Mr Juliks Nwokemodo, who brought the suit on behalf of himself and youths of community, averred in an 18 paragraph affidavit in support of the suit that 'the land in question has been a subject of dispute between our community and the said Ubulu Isi Uzo community, which dispute ended up in court with my community obtaining judgement against the said Ubulu Isi Uzo community". Counsel to the plaintiff is Kasoki Olakanma.

According to the averment, 'since the said judgement and the defendants coming into office as executives members of the village meeting, they have embarked on massive sale and disposal of the said vast parcel of land to persons of the aforementioned Ubulu Isi Uzo and other persons to the annoyance, dislike and unapproval of the indigenes of the community, especially the youths".
