Nigeria is on its way to establish a Centre for Agro-Industrial Incubation (CAII), following a bill sponsored by an Oyo State lawmaker in the Senate, Senator Teslim Folarin, to that effect.

Known as the National Centre for Agro-Industrial-Incubation bill, 2006, it has already been listed for publication in the National Assembly Journal.

The centre, when established will serve as a training point for agro-industrial, investment and commercial tourism. It will also develop and strengthen skills that will enhance the quality of investment of the national economy at the micro and sectoral levels.

It will also serve as an incubator and laboratory for vigorous and sustained development and promotion of highly specialised skills required to drive the industrial development of the nation‘s economy.

Other functions of the CAII will include creating conducive environment and incentives for industrial and business activities in the agro-industrial sector and the establishment of development centres all over the country.

It will also organise and promote industrial cooperation between Nigeria and the industrialised countries through technology intensive industries that will modernise the country‘s agro-industrial sector and increase productive capacity.

Section 2 (f and e) of the proposed law reads, "It shall organise and conduct industrial workshop and training which will address specific aggregate macro, sectoral and micro economic issues of interest and concern to all levels of national growth and development.
