Apparently overwhelmed by emotion after six days in police detention, Lagos State governorship aspirant and former Minister of Works, Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe, broke down in tears on Wednesday, during a visit by his wife and some sympathizers.
Ogunlewe, who has been held since July 28, over the murder of another Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant, Funsho Williams, was allowed to meet his wife and some political associates at the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Alagbon, where he and 17 other suspects are being detained.
After a few minutes with his visitors, Ogunlewe, who wore a caftan and a pair of rubber sandals, buckled and began to cry, while his visitors tried to calm him down.
In the meantime, police investigators, who once again invited all other PDP aspirants for another round of interrogation on Wednesday, told Daily Sun that they were yet to find anything linking Ogunlewe to the murder.
A police investigator told Daily Sun: "We are still looking for someone to really hold for the killing. We want the real killer, who will mention those who sent him. There is no evidence to link all the suspects we have now directly with the act. Ogunlewe cannot climb ceiling to go and kill.
"We are relying on the forensic investigation to nail the boys who could have been used. And we are making progress in that direction."
Also facing another round of interrogations on Wednesday was the former Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Authority (NMA), Engr Festus Ugwu, the NMA secretary and four other directors.
Meanwhile, the national chairman and presidential candidate for National Action Council, Dr Olapade Agoro, have given the Federal Government knocks for involving foreigners in the investigation.
Agoro, who pointed out that the nation's political landscape would no longer remain the same with the murder of Williams, blamed the ruling PDP for failing to provide good security for Nigerians.
In the same vein, Akwa Ibom State Governor, Obong Victor Attah, who also paid a condolence visit to the mother of the slain Williams at her Yaba residence, urged her to take heart while assuring that government was determined to find the killers.
Other visitors to the Dolphin Estate residence of the Williams on Wednesday included Chief Yekini Adeojo, Mike Inegbese, Walter Ofonagoro, Alhaja Sinatu Ojikutu and Dr Ajoke Muhammed.
